About Mrs. Matte

I am thrilled to teach sixth grade language arts at Tom Cox Intermediate this year!  This is my second year working at TCI and I hope you enjoy this school as much as I do.  I have a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University and a Master of Science in Education from Long Island University.

I am originally from Long Island, New York, and moved to the Houston area with my husband and two daughters almost six years ago. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, go to the movies and visit art museums. I enjoy cheering for my New York sports teams and watching my newly adopted Texans.

I also love to read and write!  I try to write in my journal as often as I can. I read my beloved New York Times newspaper everyday and discover new books to read often.  A great book that I read over the summer was The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy.  It's a funny fantasy adventure that takes on traditional fairy tale characters and completely upends what we know about them.  I read this book aloud to my daughters and laughed so much as we read it.  Put this one on your "must read" list!

Please be sure to check out my web site for current information about what we are doing in class. Please contact me if you have any questions!
